Loved, admired, feared, resented, remembered or never known, grandmothers help form the core of our identities. Decades removed from us, they may be our emotional twins or ancestors we never met. IMAGINING BUBBE explores the fullness of these relationships, the ways in which grandmothers and granddaughters know - and don't know - one another.

IMAGING BUBBE is a powerful, multi-layered portrait of the richness of grandmother/granddaughter relationships. The stories of women two generations before us reflect the Jewish experience and upheavals of the last century and provide an understanding of their contributions to the lives of women today.

Although fiction, the play draws on the memories, longings, dreams, wishes, stories, and imaginings of the women of Kol Isha. In telling the stories of our grandmothers, the play explores their lives and their hearts -- and we discover that they are much more than just Bubbe, Nana, Omi, or Grammie.

SOME AUDIENCE COMMENTS:

The play was wonderful...everything about it worked so well...the actors, the sets, the rabbi, the photos. You created a play which makes one reflect on the past, the present and the future. I loved it.

I kinda thought I knew what to expect - but this blew my mind. The writing, staging, acting were exceptional – I loved it all!!

What a wonderful, fun, and rewarding afternoon
it was! I really enjoyed it. It brought back a lot of memories for me.

The play was wonderful!! Such energy and enthusiasm, not to mention the tons of "truisms" smattered throughout. Lots of head nodding and uh huhs in agreement. A non-Jewish woman from in our group felt quite "at home" with the majority of observations and portrayals....so now your play is a "cross-cultural" event!

thanks
for providing such a unique opportunity and production for our community!!!

The production was so professional. I can't even imagine how much work the project must have been. My congratulations to all - so many great ideas, all done to perfection.

We were at the production on Saturday night and wanted to say BRRRRRAAVVVVVVVVOOOOOO! It was wonderful; funny and sad, connecting all of us to some one in our lives who was a "Bubbe"!
